self care doesn’t have to be expensive: free sustainable self care alternatives to try

If you’ve been on internet lately there’s a chance you’ve seen some self care videos which involve product after product that are “needed” in order to practice self care.

What if I told you don’t actually need to buy anything to practice self care! But buying a product or two to enhance your experience is absolutely fine too. I’m not here to judge how you do things, I simply want to inspire you to think differently and sustainably.

what is self care?

Firstly let’s discuss what self care actually is.

Self care is the practice of caring for yourself, whether for preventing illness, to avoid stress or simply to feel good. Self care will look differently for everyone, but involves looking after your physical, mental and emotional health, on an on going basis.

what is sustainable self care?

In the lens of sustainability, sustainable self care is the act of buying less (or no new) products to practice self care. It’s understanding you don’t actually need more ‘stuff’ to practice self care, despite what marketing says.

Reminder: you are deserving of self care without needing to accomplish something first
